Hi Folks,
Does anyone know if I can access the Plusnet SMTP ougoing server whilst I'm using my T-mobile mobile broadband stick connection? Suffice to say I have a Plusnet broadband account. Can I do it with authentication using my Plusnet login details?
Thanks
Duncan

Plusnet let you do it - you must use your main account name and password (not username+mailbox and it's password).
It could be blocked by Tiscali.

I've tried it from my daughters '3' mobile broadband connection and it works fine.

Be aware that currently your username and password are no encrypted when you use Authenticated access to teh SMTP relay. Whilst it can't have been a big problem so far (or it would have been an issue) it may never the less concern yolu.
Further use port 25, which may not be the default setting on your mail client.
Relief is at had with the new email system which will introduce Authenticated SMTP over SSL in the near future....
See this thread for more on whats going on.

Sorry for late reply - been away.
Works great. Thanks for your help.
Thanks also to the heads up later in the thread on the upcoming more secure version.
