Thanks spraxyt - though repairing the file system? What on Earth happened to it (the server, I mean)?

In technical terms - it decked it! Wink
At the moment we're trying to get the data off one of the disks, then we'll most likely have to rebuild the box and move the data across. We managed to fsck the disk initially but it identified a shed-load of errors and subsequent boot-up failed due to parts of the OS being missing.

Wasn't this tried before without success?

Bob's been volunteered to rekey it all manually from the punched tape backup. This may mean that only the posts by Methuselah will be in the restored database Crazy

Re: Usergroup IRC down?

To try and releave the boredom around here, I've set up a temp IRC channel using the Chat4all site.
If you've got your own IRC program, you want the following details:
Server: irc.chat4all.org
Port: 6667
Channel:  #PNUsertools
If you have to use a web interface, the easyist one I know of is to use the one off the chat4all site http://www.chat4all.org/eng_yourchatroom.html

Re: Usergroup IRC down?

Hi guys,
Just to let you know I've just posted an updated SS on this. We're currently working on getting the data onto new hardware.

Re: Usergroup IRC down?

If the backup is not up to date, will everybody get hit with a flood of service status announcements going back to the date of the last backup?
