Re: Upgrade threshold breached

Just finished having a word with our suppliers and we're going to get you moved to another VP.
That should be done in the next 3 working days.
Let us know if you don't see any improvement by the end of the week.

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

Hi there,
my IP Profile seems to have been dropped to 2Mbps?  Not what I was hoping for when changing the VP!
1. Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
Download  Speed
1.76 Mbps

0 Mbps 2 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.76 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.4 Mbps-2 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8.13 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2 Mbps

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

I can't test the line currently as the order is still open.
If you've not seen an improvement by tomorrow, please post back and I'll chase BTw for you. It should be a simple change.

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

OK, thanks.  So no chance of getting it sorted this evening?  Is it possible when they changed over they changed my profile at the same time?

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

Hmm, IIRC 20CN lines used to start a new connection (and also on a line reset) with a 2M profile (irrespective of line speed). In the old days this used to be the first 48 hrs. but I've seen no evidence of if or how long it does that these days. It may be entirely dependant on the make of the exchange equipment.

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

Oh, dear.  I'm still on a 2Mbps IP profile this morning.  If it's just something that happens and will increase on its own then I'll just have to grit my teeth and bear it, but I'm a little concerned that a mistake has been made somewhere and I'll have to go through the entire weekend before it can be rectified.
Is there anything anyone can do to check?

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

So, my line speed has now dropped to 0.55Mbps.  Frankly, I'm surprised I'm even able to post this.  It seems to be going further and further downwards:
1. Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
Download  Speed
0.55 Mbps

0 Mbps 2 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.55 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.4 Mbps-2 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8.13 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2 Mbps
I'm a little concerned, to say the least.  Anyone from PN reading this?

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

I'm testing the line and chasing it up now. Anotherone is onto something here - something which I haven't seen happen for sometime. MattW and I were speaking about yesterday and we believe that it should be a quick fix which I'm looking at now.

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

It's just been changed BT side - they tell me between five minutes and two hours. Experience tells me to ask you to re-establish your connection in about half an hour, but if it hasn't worked then, try again in a couple of hour and let us know if it doesn't work.

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

well, IP profile is back to normal, so thanks for that:
1. Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
Download  Speed
5.01 Mbps

0 Mbps 7.15 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 5.01 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8.13 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7.15 Mbps

Speed is still slower than I'm used to, but I'm hoping there's some kind of settling in period?
I haven't done any disconnecting or reboots - is that advisable or just leave it alone?

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

I would actually recommend a reboot in this instance. Please disconnect first though before rebooting the equipment.
We're a few days away from being able to do a full line test so I cannot do any detailed analysis as yet.

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

Followed your advice and did the reboot.  Speeds now back up to 6.71 up Cheesy
Thanks for your help in getting this resolved.  Will keep an eye on it over the weekend to see if changing VP has any effect on the evening congestion issues.
happy chap here again
