Unlimited: Newsgroup access even slower!

We've been assured many times that our old product was not suitable for things like p2p and newsgroups. Eventually after almost 3 years we've caved in and upgraded to unlimited.
So why is access to the embarcadero newsgroups (codegear.com) so slow?

the network at the moment is still in plan b config  http://usertools.plus.net/status/archive/1255451646.htm
all thoe if your speed problem was before the date of the service status it most likely isnt the cause

Any idea when we're coming off plan B I thought it was only in place for the MS updates and that was last Tuesday is there a problem somewhere?

On Wednesday, the unofficial word was that Plusnet would be returning to normal operation some time today.

So the bottom line is that PN have told us newsgroup access would be better on unlimited and instead they've made it almost impossible to use.
I really can't believe this ISP anymore.
Plus, if this doesn't improve then we want to go back to our old package.

I have no problem with text newsgroups (either usenet or private groups) which are virtually instantaneous. And I'm on the old speed-limited BBYW1. So presumably you are talking about a binary Ng?  Embarcadero newsgroups are not exactly mainstream.
So what speeds are you getting that cause it to be "almost impossible to use"?
