Troublesome Voyager 205 issues

I look after a couple of Small Business Premier accounts and am seeing some irritating issues with disconnections.
After finally getting some usable logs out of the damned things using syslog (why they have no built-in log viewer is beyond me), I've found that the logs aren't giving me any especially useful information about why the routers sometimes have trouble reconnecting. It seems that sometimes following a disconnect, the router will get stuck in a cycle of attempting to connect and failing... for literally hours, if left unchecked, until it eventually gives up. Here's what some sample syslog output looks like:
Dec 28 11:34:16 voyager-141 klogd: ADSL link down
Dec 28 11:34:18 voyager-141 pppd[236]: Clear IP addresses.  Connection DOWN.

Dec 28 11:34:30 voyager-141 klogd: ADSL link up, interleaved, us=448, ds=7072

Dec 28 11:35:02 voyager-141 pppd[236]: PPP: Start to connect ...
Dec 28 11:35:04 voyager-141 pppd[236]: PPP LCP UP.
Dec 28 11:35:08 voyager-141 pppd[236]: PPP: Start to connect ...
... <repeat last two lines over and over (and over), until: > ...
Dec 28 13:11:21 voyager-141 pppd[236]: PPP LCP UP.
Dec 28 13:11:25 voyager-141 pppd[236]: PPP: Start to connect ...
Dec 28 13:11:27 voyager-141 pppd[236]: PPP LCP UP.
Dec 28 13:11:31 voyager-141 pppd[236]: PPP: Start to connect ...
Dec 28 13:11:32 voyager-141 pppd[236]: Exit.

At that point, the router will then not reconnect until it has been powercycled (I haven't been able to test whether it can be forced to reconnect via the web interface since it always happens when I am offsite and the local users do not have access to the web interface). As you can see, no reason for the PPP failures is given.
Rebooting the router at any time during this cycle clears the issue and the router can reconnect normally. Has anyone else seen anything like this, or have any suggestions? Would one of those suggestions be "get a different router"? I have to say I've not been especially impressed with Voyager 205s, or any BT ADSL hardware for that matter (don't get me started on the Home Hub).
Thanks in advance for any input!
