I do have a life really...honest! Im just staying up to watch the rerun of X Factor as I missed it earlier.

I'm not sure that a re-run of X Factor qualifies as a 'life'.  Undecided Smiley
My excuse is that I'm just winding down with a cup of coffee (de-caff, of course, at this time of night) after getting back from playing a gig for a joint 50th birthday party. It's not a bad way to spend a Saturday night - go out & have fun at a party & come home with more money than you left the house with.

I did actually think that myself after I'd posted it, lol
I'm not sure that budding pop stars come home from gigs and go on ISP forums though!!!

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

So after the IP Profile changes at BT, changes at PlusNet's side need to happen?

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

I spoke to someone at support who said he would try a resync on the line and got me to disconnect then reconnect the dsl cable and it should do a resync soon.  I hope BT don't see this as another disconnection and lower my ip profile again.
I also noticed the phone number associated with my account is incorrect, the last 3 digits are 758 (the number at my old property), when they should be 958. Will this affect anything? I tried explaining this to customer services but I don't think anything was done because as soon as I mentioned I was having problems I was passed to tech support.

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

Hi SiMania,
I've just picked up your PN profile to 6500 now so you should see an increase. You wont have to reboot your end as it will be done when I changed the profile and won't affect the DLM.

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

Thought I'd bump this instead of creating new topic as I'm not 100% sure I have a fault.
Earlier in the week the rj11 cable was loose on my router so there was no internet for a day or so (I was away at the time).
When I get back I find the speeds are slow.
BT speedtest shows the profile is still high enough but the speed is poor

A second speedtest using bt test account didn't work, it connected and authenticated me ok, but couldn't resolve the address.
PlusNet page here shows it differently - https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed

Estimated line speed:

Current line speed:

The speeds I get reflect what plusnet are saying above. Do they have separate profiles?

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

It is supposed to be a mirror of the Ip profile with about a 12 hour lag but sometimes they get disconnected.
Yes they both (BT and Plusnet profiles) will restrict the speed

Cheers Jim, I'll keep an eye on it for a day or two to see if there are any changes.

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

Hi SiMania,
I've just checked on two BT systems and your profile is showing as 500k. We need you to be connected for at least 72 hours before we could look at that any further, which will be about 7.20 tomorrow night. After that, if it hasn't lifted we'll have to look at why.
