Throttled again!?!

Angry
Twice in the space of a month I've been left with 100kbs download speeds (yet over 300kbs upload!). Really not what I'm paying for.
Maybe its time to leave plusnet after over 10 years with them Sad
Support ticket number is 57390445.

Re: Throttled again!?!

not sure what page I should be checking really. I found a btbusiness status page which doesnt mention any problems near here.
I'm near Peterborough on the Crowland exchange.

Re: Throttled again!?!

Hi there,
The problem is that your line has disconnected and then reconnected at a slower speed, this has caused your line profile to drop right down.
Is your router plugged into the master socket (or test socket), through a single filter?
Do you hear any noise on your phone line when making or receiving calls?

Re: Throttled again!?!

Still no better.Interleaving turned on at the start of the week has made no real difference. Seems something is dragging my profile down - on a good day I can get 6mb, however those are extremely rare. 100-400kbs are my average.
I've not forced a disconnect all week so not related to that either.

Re: Throttled again!?!

speedster.bt.com results:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.32 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.5 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :0.77 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.19 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.5 Mbps
ie, pathetic.

What connection speeds do you get if you *do* restart the router?

Re: Throttled again!?!

restarting the router doesnt seem to make any difference to the speed. When my connection is slow, after a reboot its still slow.

Re: Throttled again!?!

Which speeds does it not affect? Speeds measured by speed testing will not change until the IP Profile and Plusnet mirror (Current line speed) increase , and that can take 2-3 days.
But do the connection speeds increase? Those are shown in the line I quoted from your BT test. However posting you router stats (from here if you have a Plusnet supplied Thomson router) would also give that information, and more.

Re: Throttled again!?!

ah! interesting.... after a reboot I get :

Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.37 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.5 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :6.14 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.5 Mbps
but what does it mean!? lol
I'm using a linksys WAG320N router which I dont think I can get any useful information out of?

Re: Throttled again!?!

That means that if your line remains stable and you get no disconnections your speeds will increase within up to 2-3 days.
You need to find out why you sometimes get the connections at low speeds otherwise this will keep happening (regardless of which ISP you are using).
Has anything changed with respect to equipment plugged in to any telephone socket and do all sockets that are in use have filters?
