Tea time trouble

During the last week or so I've found that the internet grinds to a halt on all the devices in the house at around 5:30. The only thing you can get into is the router stats and they show a healthy connection, the status is connected. I have noticed a pattern that the WAN uptime is usually around 2 hours. The only resolution seems to be restarting the router. Ive tried switcing the wireless off and on and trying different channels but it makes no odds.
How come it shows connected but clearly isn't.
Its happened yesterday and again today but not everyday....
Help appreciated.

Very frustrating having to restart the router manually all the time. It wouldn't be so bad if it disconnected and reconnected by itself but having to disconnect and restart manually is a pain.
its a netgear dg834g v5.
downstream noise margin is still 3db - i was expecting it to have increased with all this messing around.

I've posted a graph of your connection:

Is there anything that happens in your house during that time, does anything get switched on?

This looks random to me so the teatime subject is a bit misleading it seems.
I used to get a downstream connection of 3500 kbps but i'm now syncing at 6000 since my move to ADSL2+ on 19th of Jan. The most annoying thing is when it disconnects the router no longer reconnects automatically and even more annoying the router shows as still connected - its not clear if these disconnects are me restarting the router or if its the router losing sync.
Its driving everyone here insane especially my teenage daughter - she has less patience than me.
If we need a replacement router then I'll get one but I want to be sure of the problem first.
To your question - nothing I can think of gets switched on then.
