why after no droupouts or problems does my connection keep getting slower/ noise margin raise.
my stats just now
-
        Connection Speed
        4320 kbps
        448 kbps
        Line Attenuation
        47.0 db
        25.0 db
        Noise Margin
        10.3 db
        22.0 db
Its been connected  up for  a long time-  149:27:05 with no dropouts and it started at 6db with about 5900kbs and then everyday i check it gets slower.
why cant  it just stay at the 6db and 5.5-6M speed.....
Its like it just changes the sync speed for no reason.

Re: Target SNR

ok, did a reboot of my router incase it was in a funny state and im now resyncing with my 15db noise margin again.............

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3360 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 47.0 db 24.5 db
Noise Margin 14.9 db 22.0 db

why when i have a solid connection with no dropouts would this happen?????can you please set it to 6db again...

Re: Target SNR

Had my connection synced at about 4500kbps for ages, then swithced off my router to move its power plug to a different power outlet.
When i re-synced it was at approx 3000kbps(i think) so i used this utilty to get it syncing higher -
http://www.mognuts.com/NetgearRouterUtility.html

It then synced at 4448kbps(with10.3dB SNR) and has been connected for almost 900 hrs.
But when i do a speed test i only get 2300kbps whcih is only half sync speed...
Could you please change my target SNR back to 6dB and and see why i am olny getting approx half my sync speed.

With my line I should get sync about 5000Kbps and actual throughput speed of at least 4000kbps.
Please fix. Wink

Re: Target SNR

I have a similar problem: 6 to 8 to 9 to 10 over the last few weeks after a long time a max speed.
Does the SNR also go down as well as up automatically, or is it just one way?

Re: Target SNR

Yes, it can go down without manual intervention if the line is stable with not too many errors. There appears to be no published info on how long it's supposed to take, but a lot of people say 14 days.
Certainly that was my experience recently when my target margin went from 6 to 9 during a period of unexplained temporary noise, and then back down to 6dB.
It has also been suggested - but again no hard data - that this will not happen automatically if your FTR, even with the target margin rise, is substantially below your current sync rate.
