Hi all,
I have recently referred a small business to plusnet, they have received the standard Thomson router and its working as you would expect for basic internet access however they have 2 issues.
1st I have configured the Application sharing so that I can Remote desktop to the server but this has now opened up RDP for everybody to attack, I would like to remove this setting and instead configure the firewall so that only connections from my fixed IP is allowed, I can do this simply enough with my Netgear router but the Thomson firewall seems to not work (or I am configuring it wrong) I have duplicated the standard security level and added an entry:
Source Interface: WAN
Source Address: 80.229.###.### (My External IP address )
Destination Interface: LAN
Destination Address: 192.168.1.10 (Server's lan address)
Service:Any (as RDP and VNC are not listed)
then selected this security level. So this should allow all traffic from my IP to be directed to the server But I get nothing.
(I would like the option to use RDP or VNC or anything else the server is running)
2nd they are using a company called Timico for there Voip phone system (6 soft phones) using some Nortel Networks software. An engineer from the company came to connect the headsets and install the software, But its not able to connect to the server, they have tried adding entry to the firewall (and even turning the firewall off) but still can not connect. (They have an open ticket for this: 38155685)
Any hints or advice is much appreciated.
