Depending on the work that BT need to do, I don't think we'll get an engineer so soon. Faults should ring/SMS you though when we do.

Re: TG582n dropping ASDL connection

Quiet line on test socket, rat-tail to rat-tail for double filtering; modem not connected: there is still the same, quiet, level of buzzing as there was previously.

I have upgraded my older TG582b to 10.2.2.B and connected it to my network
Attached are
the last  router stats page before the change-over
the router stats page on the replacement router after syncing
edit - what has happened to my SN (up) margin - now 28 and why has the up bandwidth dropped right down to 440?
Just had another drop-out and have added another page of the RouterStats

Re: TG582n dropping ASDL connection

Blimey, don't know what's been going on there, but on the stats before, 49 LoS but the strange thing is your DS Target SNRM seems to be down at 6db again, & the sync speed is up. But I also note that since you posted the ticket number and observed two overnight drops (reply #102), the Upstream has been capped.
Might be worth looking at your ticket to see if there are any informative updates.
What's the DS and US SNRM graph looking like? - I'm expecting the US to be a flat line with the capped US speed.

Re: TG582n dropping ASDL connection

I've had 2 more drop-outs since I swapped router today.
I just added a 3rd router stats page to  my last posting so I haven't repeated that.
DS and US SNRM graphs attached.
no further info on ticket

Re: TG582n dropping ASDL connection

Strange, the stats show only 1 LoS.
What does the 582n log have to say? (Don't fprget to redact the last octet of your current IP address).

Re: TG582n dropping ASDL connection

The Internet section data didn't tell me any more than the logs had already done.
With 7 drops in the space of that hour yesterday, if the Quiet Line Test is showing nothing, I did wonder if it's some sort of REIN issue. I don't suppose there was any particular electrical/electronic activity during that time that you might be aware of?
However the way the DS SNRM was behaving just before each of the drops showing on the graph you posted look typical of a bad connection.
I was hoping Tony might have taken a quick look yesterday after you initially posted, but he finished at 6.

Re: TG582n dropping ASDL connection

I can't remember any unusual electronic or electoral activity during the 7 drop-outs yesterday.
I was out all day until now and found that there have been more drop-outs during that time. My laptop was closed and I have no router stats to look at. Also I cannot cast any light on possible REIN. I will try to follow up any further drop-outs that I notice.
I have extracted ppp link down/ups from the log from around 22:00 yesterday up to now. I make it 13 drop-outs in that period. I apologise in advance for the length of this log.

Re: TG582n dropping ASDL connection

Hmm, that's interesting. The stats are showing 8 LoS in the previous 24hrs from 1920, so 5 of those PPP drops were not combined with xDSL drops. It's the xDSL ones that are usually of greater interest  - they are usually accompanied by PPP drops (there are certain conditions where that rarely doesn't happen). Identifying any PPP drops without xDSL may also be of interest.
Did you reboot the 582n around 1915 yesterday?
Don't forget that often the entries in the log leading upto the xDSL linestate down - especially "Kernel" ones can be very revealing.

Re: TG582n dropping ASDL connection

I did not reboot at any time after exchanging the routers
I have selected a section of the telnet log covering both 19:15 and 18:15 which might be the relevant time taking the overnight clock change into consideration.
I will now check the log to find the PPP drops without xDSL.
If you would like to see the unabridged log please let me know

Re: TG582n dropping ASDL connection

Re: PPP drops without xDSL
I have examined the entire current telnet log starting at Mar 28 16:14:09 - I have attached a colour-coded version
The first 7 drops were all PPP with xDSL down; the last of these finished at Mar 28 18:16:55
Another 13 from Mar 28 18:41:43 up to Mar 29 20:31:11 were all PPP down only.
