T582n god awful wireless speeds!

Hi,
Joined plusnet and got fibre installed and setup on the 26th of October, the wired connection direct to the T582n is fantastic 68-72Mbps.
But wireless is all over the place, it jumps from 0.8Mbps to 20Mbps although upload always stays steady at over 10.
It doesnt matter where I am in the house I always have full signal, getting fed up of it now, paying for 72Mbps and getting 1Mbps at times, this is on G wireless laptops and My iPad.
I have noticed that the interface type is locked on B/G/N, and it seems the router likes to switch between the lot, one moment I have 20Mbps the next 1Mbps, how can I change the interface type, or is there another router I can use?

Welcome to the forums
Other users have reported issues with wfi on the TG582n, notably poor speed.
Some have switched to using alternative ones, all you need is to ensure whatever you go for supports a PPPOE connection.

I agree that the wireless aspect of the router is nothing short of pathetic. I tried everything to improve my wireless speeds and I was getting anything from 6mbps-35mbps but never anything higher. In the end and as I was paying extra as I upgraded from Fibre value to Fibre extra and my line speed was 64MB I bought the Netgear N600 (WNDR3700) and Netgear N600 adapter and my wireless speeds are a very consistent 60-64MB and strangly I've also had over 70MB even though thats higher than my line speed. The downside of this was the router and adapter cost me £145 but that was my choice because of the poor capability of the supplied router but I'd rather not have had to fork out for a new one. I'm sure you can get a decent router for less though. I was using the Netgear N150 adapter with the Technicolour router initially and funnily enough when I switched to the Netgear N150 I was getting speeds of around 40-45mb but these were rather variable but still better than the Technicolour.
There are numerous posts about the Technicolour router as I'm sure you'll see and my own opinion is that it is fairly poor but I guess its free, but I reckon if you want decent speeds you'll probably find you have to source another router. Good luck.
