Switching Off Interleaving

hi, I'm not a "Pro" customer but i dont think i need interleaving on... my BT exchange is next door to my house (the phone cable into my home comes up through the floor - no overhead copper wires!)... my connection is rock solid but interleaving is on... why did Fastpath not get activated as default?
As a separate matter... why is my IP Profile so low? My SNR and Attenuation stats are great and i've never ever known my connection to drop... just wondered why BT were so cautious with their training? Or is this a ploy to save the bandwidth in my small rural exchange?
Your DSL connection rate: 8064 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4476 kbps
Thanks for anyones input.
