You seem to be one of the lucky ones who can actually browse, but for many of us, although we show as connected, we can't do anything else.

I have just ran a few line tests and don't see any obvious issues, your sync speed is good, the VP is ok and no recent issues at the exchange. So the first thing I would do would be to visit our troubleshooting page where, if the checks are unsuccessful it will enable you to raise a fault.

I did have problems when first connecting to Plusnet (streaming music connect would drop out).. After second Thomson router with same issues I bought a brand
new netgear which syncs and connects at full speed...
The browsing thing started about a week ago and has got worse and it seems to be connected with my upload speed.. I can download files
at 7 to 800k a second but browsing is terrible.. Also interesting if I ping -t Plusnet DNS servers 212.159.6.10 or 212.159.6.9 I do a regular
"Request Timed Out" entry.....
More to follow I'm sure.....
Oh yeah just for reference here's the router stats
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 19.0 db 10.5 db
Noise Margin 8.0 db 25.0 db

Is this trace from a plusnet connection, because it doesn't look like to me. You were tracing to a plusnet caching DNS server which is for lookups for plusnet connections. The results you have posted don't really tell us anything.
From a plusnet connection it should look something like this.
1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms home.gateway [192.168.1.254]
2 18 ms 18 ms 19 ms lo0-central1.pcl-ag05.plus.net [195.166.130.34]
3 18 ms 18 ms 18 ms gi7-8-512.pcl-gw02.plus.net [84.93.254.51]
4 21 ms 18 ms 18 ms vl63.pcl-lb01.plus.net [212.159.2.252]
5 18 ms 17 ms 19 ms cdns02.plus.net [212.159.6.10]

The first time I ran traceroute from a website so it showed the wrong route...doh Second time I dowloaded some software
so it was from here...
My problem is deffo packet loss.. If I ping-t any IP I get around 5% loss ... see below..
Ping statistics for 212.159.8.91:
Packets: Sent = 103, Received = 97, Lost = 6 (5% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 46ms, Maximum = 254ms, Average = 52ms
I will do all the diagnostic thing again.. bit of a drag as I did it all about 3-4 weeks ago for another fault..

I know what you mean about it being a drag but look, I'll see what I can come up with when I get in in the morning.

Jojo you are a star and definitely need a pay rise for your dedication... Do you ever clock off?
I will do the diag stuff again if needs be.. Funny I can download large files but posting to this forum
takes up to 3 mins from hitting the post button..
@Steve M I have 3 PC's which are connected to net via a router and the problem is on all of them
2 x XP and 1xVista... I also have 4 routers.. 2 x Thomson 1 x Dlink and the new Netgear..
Hey but thanks for the input keep em coming...

Done further tests this time from test socket...
Speedtester runs but only download test around 725k/b sec so all good.... I can stream Iplayer HD no problem but browsing sites
is like pulling teeth..
Upload test won't run throws error reading upload file.... This happens with the tree testers I tried..
Ping -t test to google.co.uk and plusnet.com shows between 5% and 9% packet loss..
Anyway at least I can log a support ticket now..
Cheers
Steve
