Sudden drop in speed :(

Hi!
I've been a customer for a few months now, and I've had a consistent download speed of 6.5mb.  But today has been just awful, so I ran a speed test and I'm barely getting 2.5mb.
Should I expect this kind of (temporary, I hope) drop?  Or should I raise a support ticket?
Thanks! Smiley

Re: Sudden drop in speed :(

First thing is to post the stats from your router
- attenuation, noise margin and speeds
- this should tell you how to get them http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php

Thanks!  Here we go. Smiley
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 8,128
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 12.0 / 20.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 29.0 / 14.5

@foxboom
You may want to wait until tomorrow and try another test then as this may have some bearing on your issue.  This won't have helped either if you were one of the affected areas (it's fixed now BTW).

Ah, thanks Paul!  I'm sure that's the problem right there. Smiley
I did look on the service status page, but I didn't see that article about the football.  I'll read better next time. Smiley

Re: Sudden drop in speed :(

and what did they do given that fishing has more followers that football.  they delayed the evening news by 90 odd minutes and pulled forward the match of the day.  So if somebody was looking at any of the listings, including the BBC on line one, they would have missed the first 50 minutes of the program - the BBC are stupid Crazy

I agree.  I once complained 'cos we tried to tape Dr Who and instead got a penalty shoot out.  The BBC told me it was my fault. Angry

once more, fans of football are given top priority, over everybody else.
