Hi
PN's Mybroadbandspeed.co.uk always used to report my download speed at approx 5600 kpbs - OK for 6000 kbps PN profile.
However, recently Mybroadbandspeed.co.uk has been reporting download figures below 3000 kbps.
Tonight (8/3/12) @ 21.35 I undertook some tests:
Mybroadbandspeed.co.uk = 1723 kbps
speedtest.net = 3710 kbps
Hmmm some difference, but the surprise was the BT wholesale speed tester which reported 5.71 Mbps, which is spot on!
I am wondering what could cause this?
All the tests were undertaken on a wired ethernet PC running Ubuntu 10.04 & the Chrome browser.
Richard

mybroadbandspeed is currently borked.
Picking a different host on Speedtest.net would probably mean you get a decent test. I usually use London (provided by Trance FM) as it seesm the most reliable for 40meg+
Maidenhead is also adequate for slower speed
Providing BT speedtester is Okay - theres nothing to worry about
Regards

Hi
Thanks for the response
I will try some more speed tests when I am back from work.
I cannot see anything on the PN service status about mybroadbandspeed.co.uk being borked.
Could a PN rep please advise?
Richard

A big difference for me this morning between mybroadbandspeed (1.4Mbps) and Speedtest.net (11.4Mbps). Noticed similar results recently. A bit hit or miss as sometimes mybroadbandspeed shows comparable results to other test sites at around 11Mbps.

I'm seeing very odd download speeds from mybroadbandspeed. speedtest.net gives me the speeds i'm expecting. no indication that mybroadbandspeed is rogered.

Quote mybroadbandspeed is currently borked.
the site works fine, it just isnt having enough throughput for the speedtester to be of any real use. JoJo i think commented on this on the forum.

As others have mentioned, it is probably to do with the "mybroadbandspeed" problems. But, it might be worth posting your router stats to see if there is anything else wrong.
