Still waiting for move to ADSL2+

Despite being told twice I will be moving, the promised dates have come and gone and still no movement. Huh
Is there a line problem or is it just management.

Re: Still waiting for move to ADSL2+

Looking at your other posts you seem to be syncing at 1600kbps so you will see no advantage going to ADSL2+ and PN for lines syncing less than 4mbps will be placed on ADSL when moved to WBC

Re: Still waiting for move to ADSL2+

In fact you might well have been moved to 21CN but on ADSL1, which as itsme said is appropriate for your sync speed. Does your router report the exchange equipment vendor? It it does and says IFTN you are on 21CN.

Re: Still waiting for move to ADSL2+

The BT Home Hub obviously does not give chipset information. However two pointers from the BT Performance Tester results confirm you are on 21CN WBC. The first of these is that your BT IP profile is not a round number (it's actually 88.2% of your sync speed); and the second is that an upload speed test is included.
21CN WBC is the service that provides ADSL2+ but for your sync speed ADSL1 is likely to give you the best performance in terms of speed and connection stability. However I expect a staff member will confirm this tomorrow and expand on the interpretation to be placed on the message in the ticket.

Re: Still waiting for move to ADSL2+

Hi AMX,
I've placed the order for you, as you're already on the ADSL1 on 21CN service it'll complete tomorrow. As spraxyt says though, I suspect you'll not see much of a speed increase (if any). Hope it makes a difference for the better though.

Re: Still waiting for move to ADSL2+

Hi Matt,  Thanks, I assume I am now on ADSL2+ as my event log showed a socket error at 15.07 on the 14th.  I didn't notice any change in speed but being 4.2 km from the exchange anything will help.  Unfortunately overnight I lost connexion ( weather??) and now its a lot slower . As I understand there is a 10 day training period  for new ADSL2+ should I just leave it and wait or could I reset my router to force an increase in speed.
                                thanks

Re: Still waiting for move to ADSL2+

your DSL connection 992.1 is ADSL1
ADSL2+ is 992.5

Thanks for your input Pierre, I was due to be switched to ADSL2+ on the 14th, hopefully Matt will explain and answer my question.

Re: Still waiting for move to ADSL2+

It could be a situation like mine, whereby your router is automatically picking the most stable connection type available rather than using the fastest. (mine was stuck on G.992.3 instead of the expected G.992.5). I'm afraid I'm not familiar with BT home hubs, so can't really advise further...
For what it's worth, forcing my connection to G.992.5 was a waste of time (no real change), so I just let the router pick what it thought was best...

Re: Still waiting for move to ADSL2+

Hi AMX,
The order is complete, it was closed at midnight on the 15th. The reason it'll still be using the ADSL1 protocol is because of the speed it runs at.
I don't think it goes through the full retraining period when it moves from ADSL1 on 21CN to ADSL2, but the drops in connection will most likely have caused the reduction in speed - as per the usual process that should pick up within a couple of days, though if you're getting decent speeds from the BT speed tester and the profile's above what's set on our side then let us know and we'll give it a bump for you.

Re: Still waiting for move to ADSL2+

As you can see from BT Speedtest shown below, my d/l of 1330 Kbps is a fair way below my IP Profile of  1947 Kbps, so if you could give it a bump for me that would be great.
                              regards

1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
