So what are the peak and off peak times on the brandband your way options

Use your allowance to look at the PlusNet web page.

Re: Speed restriction not being lifted - please help

Hiya,
what you need to consider is that P2P speeds on BBYW Option 2 are better than those on Broadband Plus.
So yes, whilst the peak hours are reduced, the P2P speeds are considerably improved to that of BB+

Re: Speed restriction not being lifted - please help

...and you get 15GB of peak time usage as opposed to 4GB.  Even with the extended peak on BBYW, it still works out at almost double the peak time allowance.

Paul,
I'm fairly certain that hasn't been the case since the new speedtester was built.
It certainly worked on the old one, but not since afaik.

Never having used that speed tester, I thought I'd have a go.
When the test completed it instructed that one should 'disconnect' and then log back on to your ISP.
From this I infer that PlusNet was bypassed for the test..... but I may be wrong.

Re: Speed restriction not being lifted - please help

Hi James
And what about me.
I was in the middle of a billing period and i was well under my usage figures yet
I was subject to all this slow speeds of 20kpbs
I got short change ringing up Plusnet and no answers to my question when
i put coments on.
Why was I included?
And what about compensation/

Hi Soulsville,
I'm afraid that I can only apologise for the inconveniences you may have suffered as a result of the problem, which I'd be inclined to believe that you were affected by.
We're not planning on offering compensation as a result of the issues seen.

Re: Speed restriction not being lifted - please help

@AJTWWE
Thanks for your PM, as you've exceeded your usage allowance you need to carefully look at all the options as per the suggestions.
As you're on MaxDSL, that BT speedtest was an anomally. I'll comment in a moment.
@Paul03
re your post#95, I'd been wondering the same. There is also test.speedtester.bt.com but afaikt it's the same as the www.
(That was a handy link by the way).
@canford
I assume that was a test login as suggested.
I can't play at the moment, have to have a go later tonight.

Re: the test result in post #90, looks like the speed tester threw a wobbly and thought the connection was a fixed 2M? one. I've only ever had this happen once, has anyone else had that one?
@Jameseh
Will you be able to respond to my request in post#81?
Edit: add comment on link

Re: Speed restriction not being lifted - please help

Hi James,
Plusnet has not been very good over this issue
Is Plusnet slipping again we have seen it happen before.
All weekend from 00.01 saturday moring until approx 10.30 today Monday
i have had a speed of 20kbps in unrestricted time as well.
I got no joy from ringing Plusnet and nobody answered my question ticket
You still have not answered my question why was I included when I was
in the middle of my billing month and well below my on usage.
An answered would be a start.
I notice when we customers do anything wrong we are penalised yet when Plusnet
does something wrong everything is ok and you are not penalised, why?
At least I should be gratful i am back on I my correct profile that I pay for, I suppose.

Re: Speed restriction not being lifted - please help

As the OP to this thread I'd like to add a few comments.
@AJTWWE I am on Premier 2 which gives me a 30GB peak and no fixed limit off-peak. I am sure PN would give a gentle prod if the off-peak was regularly in excess of 150-200GB Smiley
@Be3G I remember the days you had to change you router login details to BT's so then it must have by-passed PN's system. These days you don't do that, at least, not for the first three tests.
@jameseh: Appreciate your time and effort in helping sorting these issues and keeping us updated. Shame the weekend staff couldn't do it! They really need to be updated on usage allowances and full Custeromer Service rather than the attitude I picked on of 'hey, it's your fault'.
I was consistantly told that there were no restrictions still applied to my account and that there were no other problems.
The mention of compensation was mentioned. I not looking for financial recompense but how about a period of 48 hours with no peak-time so that I can do the updates this and tomorrow evenings that I had intended to do today Wink Is this possible?
My usage has also been reset and it's peak time and I am still get speeds reported of over 5M DL. One thing I have noted when I previously had speed issues that were PN's fault was that the speedtesters tend to take an extremely long time to complete and even fail to actually stop at 100% for UP. For other things that tend to be outside of PN's control like contention, weather, etc this never happens.
Once again, thanks to all those involved in sorting this mess out.

Re: Speed restriction not being lifted - please help

I would assume that you would have to change package, or wait till your billing date?
