Speed issues again

Well after having trouble a few weeks back, My connection magically returned to normal without changing or doing anything to my equipment. (Raised a complaint, with a reply of its something your end, which then magically repaired itself)  Roll_eyes Then last night and this morning im receiving 0.13 download speeds!! (i usually get 400+ overnight between 01.00 and 11.00) I really dont know what to do, because all ive had since joining plusnet  is trouble.. Is there a way out of my contract? or do i have to hold out for 18 months  Cry

Re: Speed issues again

if its your line wont do any good jumping ship, the problem might be BT and that will go with you, there might be othe factors, one of the Knowledgeable bunch should be along soon, do as they say and you should find the cause

Reading your last thread it seem that your router experienced a lower sync rate which will reduced the BT IP profile which in turn will reduce PN maximum speed setting. If you router than sync at a higher rate it will then take 3 days for the BT IP profile to increase and then up to 12 hours for PN maximum speed to be updated.
I suggest that you read http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/IPprofile.htm and then do a BT speedtest to see what your BT profile is.

Re: Speed issues again

Bt speedtest result
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 192 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 80 kbps
If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.
If you are experiencing problems with specific applications, servers or websites please contact your ISP for assistance.
Your test has completed please close this window to exit the performance tester.
When i first joined i was getting 4544 kbps on my downloads, so as you can see its dropped a little since then.. The house is brand new, and all wiring is brand new.. It just seems strange how it drops for a few days then gets back to normal.

Re: Speed issues again

Please can you post the sync speed, attenuation and noise margin reported by your router (this page may help you find them).
Then plug your router (without a telephone attached to the filter) in to the test socket
and post the stats your router reports then.

Re: Speed issues again

Another bt speedtest yielded much better results with dsl connection rate (back in the original socket)
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 4000 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 76 kbps
If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.
If you are experiencing problems with specific applications, servers or websites please contact your ISP for assistance.
Your test has completed please close this window to exit the performance tester.

But im still getting 0.13 downloads on all other speed testers  Huh

Your speeds will be poor until your IP profile is increased by BT. Currently your profile is 135kbps, with a connection rate of 4000kbps your IP profile will be 3000kbps.  You need to keep your router on without forcing any resync's or disconnecting and it should increase within 24 hours as the increase is significant and should be faster than the normal 3 days.

Re: Speed issues again

Leave the router permanently on and every so often (say twice a day) check that the up time reported doesn't indicate that you have had a reconnection at some point. If it does reconnect work out when it happened and try to think of anything that the event could be linked to.
If you get no reconnects your IP profile should return to normal as itsme said.
