........ The iplate seems to solve some ppls slow connection speeds.  Therefore back to my original question.  Will Plusnet be supplying the iplate. Yes or No?
Thanks if you can answer this.

Can PlusNet please answer the OP's original question.

Can PlusNet please answer the OP's original question.

You mean the OP should be encouraged to spend money on something that probably isn't going to improve his connection?
I'd have thought trying to diagnose the problem properly first was a far more responsible route!

We are going round in circles.

Seems to sum it up really.
The OP has asked about iPlate - no answer from PN. Perhaps they should raise a ticket?
Lots of people (not me yet, but I'd probably say the same) have said it's probably the wrong answer and have asked the OP for additional information in order to give appropriate help.
That information has not been provided, at least not in any useful form.
Shame really as there's lots of help on offer here. We can but wait, or move on methinks....  Sad

Re: iplate

IIRC then it would be no cheaper for PlusNet to provide an iPlate than for someone to go out and buy one for 11 quid from Broadbandbuyer.

Re: iplate

It may not sound like it but I do appreciate your advice guys (I got a crap load of stuff going on at work atm) Wink
Anyways
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2272 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 52 db 14 db
Noise Margin 12 db 20 db
A year or so ago I was getting 4000-4500kbps.  My hardware hasnt changed.  Router is connected directly to master socket.

Speed test:
Date Download Speed Upload Speed
Today 16:41 1408 kbps (176kB/s) 370 kbps (46.3kB/s) Share
Yesterday 16:51 1651 kbps (206kB/s) 363 kbps (45.4kB/s)

What you need is a high speed modem cable which you can get from currys or any other good shop this has a multi insulated twisted pair and gold connections with a super braid on the outside and connects from the socket to your router. This is the cable often forgotten and is normally very poor quality and picks up noise and reduces speed  because this is what the router sees as the line. I have just got one and its made a difference straight away reducing noise and everything

Anyonelse use this cable?

Re: iplate

Do you have any extension cables from the master socket?
Also is there any noise (crackling ext) on the line when you use the phone?

Re: iplate

From the stats it look like BT have raised your downstream SNR margin to 12db. Best to raise a ticket asking PN to see if there was any reason for the SNR to be increased and it not to lower it back to 6db.

Re: iplate

Are the latest results from the master socket or the test socket behind the master socket.

The master socket results were exactly the same:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2272 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 52 db 14 db
Noise Margin 12 db 20 db

Re: iplate

Your line length (attenuation) suggests 4 to 4.5mbps is reasonable.
A 12dB SNRM certainly won't help achieve that but probably wouldn't, on it's own, reduce your speed to half.
So it's suggesting wiring problems and/or interference are conspiring to reduce your speed.
Note that "nothing has changed" are famous last words in this game - it has but you just don't know what.  Wink
Do you have an NTE5A with a Test Socket?

Re: iplate

I don't think anyone has mentioned doing the quite line test
dial 17070 and select option 2.
It should be totally silent, any cracking or other noises indicate a problem.

Still believe it's worth asking PN why the SNR is 12db as BT set this as the target and it has been known for this to be increased without any reason.

I get very very low background hum. No crackling
