Spam gone mad in the last 18 hours

I've received over 4000 Spam emails in the last 18 hours, where normally I would only get about a dozen or so. What's changed all of a sudden to create such an increase?  I see they're all addressed to @myusername.plus.com and not using my own domain name.  Has someone hack the PN servers again?  Anyone else experiencing this massive increase in Spam?  Most of it is failed delivery notifications.

It should die down after a few hours/days/weeks/months.
