Sorry another speed help question

Hi sorry if any of this is not right, i usually have to reboot the router every night as the speed drops down to around 1-2 mbps and ping shoots up to way over 100 (180 this morning) then it all works okay.
Also when i was with O2 i was getting over 5mbps download on this line now struggle to get 4Mbps, when i first connected i was getting over 4.5 mbps but was having problems with my network so kept unplugging and rebooting the router, don't know if this has any bearing.
I have tried testing with the bt speed test and get the same results, can someone look into this.
Thanks
Download speedachieved during the test was - 2.42 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :5.18 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 4.5 Mbps

Please post your router stats (speeds, noise margin and attenuation) and the Plusnet Line Speed from https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed

Re: Sorry another speed help question

You're transferring a lot of data according to that info - nearly 600Mb in 53 minutes. Were you downloading or streaming something while running the speed test?
Unplugging/rebooting your router isn't recommended as BT's line management system can interpret this as a fault and reduce your line speed in an attempt to fix what it can perceive as a fault. The better way to is to manually disconnect/reconnect from the router admin page.

Re: Sorry another speed help question

I have a suspicion - can you check the noise margin when the speed drops and the pings rise
Basically your sync speed is very good for the reported attenuation however a side effect of that is that the noise margin could well drop severely after dark and if it gets too low the error rate will be such that it kills the effective speed and the pings
Note that you appear to be on a 20CN from the reported IP profile - does your exchange support 21CN

Raise a ticket - http://faults.plus.net
You can then give the support guys a nudge on here  Wink
Btw, are you seeing slow downs at certain times of the day or is it random?

Re: Sorry another speed help question

@crobertbailey
I can see there's an open ticket on your account pertaining to upgrading to 21CN, we can usually turn that around within a few days so do you want to see if that leads to any change before proceeding with a fault?
