Some sites slow?????????

Websites retrieval is ok with me but trace routes still showing upto  131 ms latency at AOL Transit Data Network (ATDN) nodes  (lossy)
This website allows you to check latency from specific routers for telia.net (go for london one)
for fans of historical router latency over the past 24 hours, check Router Watch

My traces timeout at similar places but I've no problems accessing CNN and eBay this evening.

The timeouts could of course be related to firewalls installed at those points, right Bob?
A good site I found a while back for a good overview of the health of the net is http://internettrafficreport.com/

Yes, the traceroute is not responding because the firewalls are dropping the ICMP packets.  If you use tcp packets cisco responds (with delay mind you) fine:
