Slow web sites?

Slow web sites?

I recently switched to PlusNet and soon felt that my broadband speeds were slower than those on my previous ISP. PlusNet have carried out several tests - they have devoted a lot of time to this possible problem.
This query relates specifically to the different speeds I get with different web sites.
For example, LloydsTSB is quick and smooth, as is BBC. I reach these quickly, via Favorites, and can immediately negotiate the site, scroll etc. BUT e-Bay is a
nightmare - slow to reach, then very slow to respond to scroll or page changes.
Is this problem related to broadband speed? How can I improve access to such as e-Bay?
Suggestions please!

Re: Slow web sites?

Hiya,
Sorry to hear that you've been having a spot of bother with your web browsing.
Has the support staff mention something called MTU & rWin to you at all?
Do you know if your actual broadband speeds have decreased since you moved to us?

Re: Slow web sites?

I have noticed slow page loading from eBay recently, so it may just be an issue with their servers.

Re: Slow web sites?

Hello, James Bailey.
No, no mention of MTU etc
Yes, I think speeds a little slower here but difficult to be sure. Slow speeds are experienced locally - at best seem to be about 1.8Mb.
I suppose I must accept that and avoid irritating, slow web sites!

Re: Slow web sites?

Hiya,
It might be worth trying to configure your MTU/rWin as this can make a difference in your throughput speeds.
This page is probably worth a read:
