Slow upload speed

Seeing great download speed, however the upload speed is poor.  A bit confused about this.

Re: Slow upload speed

Hi there,
Were there any other applications running on the PC (or any other PCs on the network) at the time of the speedtest that might have been using the upstream bandwidth? This is the usual cause for slowdowns like this.

Re: Slow upload speed

Do you use antivirus? I know it might seem annoying, but trojans will often use the upstream bandwidth and hide themselves and the traffic from the computer itself. If you're not sure if this is the case or not and antivirus isn't picking anything up it might be worth running a wireshark capture to see what traffic is actually going over the interface when the computer is in use.
I realise this may not be the case, checking your usage today there's only been about 100Mb used (though that data is an hour behind)... if you've had the PC on all day then it's unlikely to be a virus as there would be a lot more usage showing. However if you've only just turned the PC on for an hour or so it is a possibility.

Re: Slow upload speed

I suggest you try closing all programs and then monitor the router to see if there is any significant traffic still going through.
(Just to check the obvious - you haven't downloaded any programs to watch from BBC iPlayer or 4OD have you?)

Re: Slow upload speed

@ Orbrey
PC is on 24/7/365 so it is unlikely I have a trojan or virus - currently  running AVG internet security 8

Re: Slow upload speed

Well you're on our LLU service so I can try changing the line profile if you like, it might drop the maximum speed you could get but you should see an improvement in upload speed. Please let me know if you'd like me to do this?
