Re: Slow speeds today.

Best thing would be to post some modem/router ADSL line stats including the error figures, both before you start to see speed issues and during, as well as just after things improve. Make sure all the sets include the Uptime/showtime.
Edit: Which London server are you using on speedtest.net? Also which Gateway are you on, is the same which ever Gateway?

Re: Slow speeds today.

I've had issues with connection for the past couple of weeks. Keep getting Plus Net Assist kicking in to try and Fix my email? and I have to Reload pages whilst surfing the internet quite a lot. Is this likely to be related - I don't have any speed test figures but might do so next time it happens.

Re: Slow speeds today.

HI JamesM,
I can see that they've asked you to provide some speed test results when you are having issues.
@ mike142sl
Are using a wired connection when this happens? If so make sure you try it with an ethernet cable.

Re: Slow speeds today.

Yes the laptop is hard wired with an ethernet cable to the router. As is the TV which has started freezing whilst watching iPlayer.

Re: Slow speeds today.

I can't see anything obvious, so maybe it's worth running a speed test next time it happens Smiley

@Jojo, I have linked this thread to my fault question, will this be enough for the fault team if I keep adding tests here ?

@Anotherone,  Unfortunately the Router I use only shows main stats and doesn't show error reports, the uptime has been from the 3rd of May as that is as far back as it goes, it doesn't give an actaul uptime date.

Re: Slow speeds today.

Do you have another modem/router you can try?

Re: Slow speeds today.

I have an old 585 that Plusnet supplied I can try. The problem with that one was when I was playing BFBC2 I was getting pings of over 200 which made Gaming unbearable, this is the reason I bought the Belkin F7d.
I am hard wired into my PC but I have wireless on for my PS3, (my PS3 is turned off when I am gaming). Would it be worth turning wireless off on my router, as with the slow speeds being so intermittant, could someone piggy backing on my wireless cause the slow speeds ?

Re: Slow speeds today.

It may be worth trying it at a convenient point, just to see whether the speeds are similar and what the errors are doing.
When you swap things about follow this procedure -
Login to the modem/router interface and click on the "Disconnect" button - this terminates the "ppp" session to the ISP (not sync to the exchange).  Wait a good minute after the button changes to "Connect" (refresh the page to be sure).
Then power down the modem/router. Wait a good minute before unplugging the modem/router or it's filter from the line. Then swap whatever needs to be swapped.
When you power up, dependant on the modem/router and last settings, you may need to login into it and click on "Connect".
Don't do more than about 5 swaps in an hour and then leave for the rest of the day.
Edit: It will be the errors over at least an hour but ideally a little more whilst the throughput is down. Don't forget stats before, during, and after.

Re: Slow speeds today.

Will do, I  will swap it tomorrow morning and post the error reports from the 585.
Thanks
James.

Re: Slow speeds today.

OK, back home and have just logged on and received the Assist Fix pop up telling me there is a problem with email. Clicking send/receive then downloads the emails, but I'm still finding that I have to reload pages as I enter sites.
I'm not on Fibre just standard up to 8mb. Done a speed test which produces this

Did this as well

Re: Slow speeds today.

Hi there mike142sl,
As you problem has undoubtedly different complications, I suggest it may be best to start your own thread so as not to get things confused with the other existing problem.

Slow again, as you can see it has been fine all day, I checked these at around 9:30 PM and it has gone south again  Sad
