Hello Guys,
Over the last few days the internet has been really flaky, with it being down more often than up. Tried rebooting the router an hour back, and it improved from:
ping google.com Ping request could not find host google.com. Please check the name and try again.
To:
ping google.com Pinging google.com [216.58.212.78] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 216.58.212.78: bytes=32 time=2903ms TTL=54 Reply from 216.58.212.78: bytes=32 time=3923ms TTL=54 Request timed out. Reply from 216.58.212.78: bytes=32 time=1648ms TTL=54 Ping statistics for 216.58.212.78: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 3, Lost = 1 (25% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 1648ms, Maximum = 3923ms, Average = 2824ms
Tried a Tracert and ruled out the connection to my router being the problem, but beyond that the times are just all over the place:
tracert google.com Tracing route to google.com [216.58.213.110] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 2 ms 2 ms 1 ms dsldevice.lan [192.168.1.254] 2 * * * Request timed out. 3 * * * Request timed out. 4 3157 ms 3340 ms 3663 ms be3-3100.pcn-ir01.plus.net [195.166.143.128] 5 * * * Request timed out. 6 1257 ms 814 ms 3581 ms peer5-hu0-1-0-1.telehouse.ukcore.bt.net [195.99.127.21] 7 * 3530 ms * 195.99.126.105 8 * 3403 ms 491 ms 108.170.246.129 9 * 3800 ms 2793 ms 216.239.57.119 10 3423 ms 2550 ms 2831 ms lhr25s02-in-f110.1e100.net [216.58.213.110] Trace complete.
I'm in a new build area, in case that helps narrow down the troubleshooting.
Thanks and Regards,
Basil Dsouza

Hi there Basil, I'm sorry to hear you're having problems with your broadband connection.
From testing your line I'm not identifying a fault though I am seeing a few errors on the connection. This is likely caused by the signal to noise ratio being too low (3db). I've increased this for you now and you may see the router reboot itself.
I'd expect you to see a better throughput and less disconnections within the next 24 hours but please feel free to let me know how you get on.
