Slow Upload Speed

We regularly from an extremely slow upload speed, (and below average download speed for the predicted range, but thats another matter) and I am unsure how to find out if the stated 1 MBPS is the maximum we can get, or if it has been capped.

We're about 100m from our nearest exchange, if that's helpful.  TIA fro any suggestions

Re: Slow Upload Speed

Trying popping your phone number into the link below and see what you line is capable of.

Re: Slow Upload Speed

Ah this is handy, thank you.

Showing our capability is 1.5, so not much difference I guess.

Shame, it's very frustrating to have a file upload take several hours!

Re: Slow Upload Speed

100 m from exchange ?   and what service have you?  ADSL or FTTC ?

100 m =  300 feet, like you live next door to the exchange?

Re: Slow Upload Speed

Lol, yes pretty much! It's at the end of my road 😃

We're ADSL, but considering the upgrade to fibre if it means our upload speeds improve.

Re: Slow Upload Speed

🙂

ADSL should be quite quick !  but check that there is a green cabinet between you and the exchange as fibre (FTTC)  is not available "direct" from the exchange i.s. the green box has to be in the loop.  I have no idea about FTTP (direct to premises) and connectivity but this is a bit more expensive.

You should easily be in the 50 Mbps range at that distance with FTTC.
