Slow Internet, reset please!

Hello there, could I please get a reset on my internet, the ip profile is stuck at 2Mps, and I'm getting 1.28Mbs currently.  Been slow about two weeks.  Thank you.

Hi @smashstuff, thanks for your post.

 

On checking the line, we're able to see that the line appears to have been automatically 'banded' by the exchange to 2mbps, which appears to be down to several drops in connection. Essentially, the exchange has capped your speed as it's detected instability.

 

I've removed the banding now and your speeds will increase over the course of the evening, however, if the drops persist please let us know as we're more likely to be able to detect the issue whilst it's ongoing.

 

In the meantime, some basic troubleshooting may help to narrow down where the issue is.


I'd recommend starting with basic checks here.

And if that doesn't help the next thing would be to rule your internal wiring out by plugging the connection into your test socket which is under the faceplate of your master socket and seeing if the drops stop. This rules out internal wiring, face plates and extension sockets as being the cause. How to locate the test socket and set your connection into it can be found here.

Oskar, thanks for your help, it's currently at 9.04Mbps, which is fantastic,hopefully it stays there!  Thanks for your fast response and help, much appreciated!
