I would like to try a different router but so far I've had no luck in finding one so your offer to send a replacement would be much appreciated. I'm using the same old Thomson I've had for 8 years.
All the disconnections through the night have me baffled. Do you have any other ideas about what might be causing this?

It'll be difficult to advise what may be causing the issue as our testing isn't finding a cause.
I've ordered a replacement router now which you should receive within the next few days.
Let us know how it goes once you've got it and if you continue to see drops I'd then recommend raising a fault to us online.

Sorry to report but I noticed last night around 12.30 a.m. that the broadband and internet lights were flashing on and off again. This 2704n router doesn't seem to have a built-in log like the old Thomson one so could you please post a revised chart as I don't know if this carried on through the night?

I've had a nosey around in the router settings using a virtual app and it doesn't look like there is a log on this one. The most data seems to be on the Helpdesk tab but the uptime just shows how long the connection has been active for.
Unfortunately this is the router we'd send out for a standard broadband connection nowadays, we don't stock the Thomson or Technicolor routers anymore. Feel free to let us know over here if you're wanting a fresh log from our side.

Just referring back to your earlier description of an old style socket and the fact that its not the first "box" on the phone line. I wonder if it would be worth getting BT to run new cable from the point of entry direct to your socket, fitting a new modern master socket. Not sure how much that would cost, maybe Plusnet can advise if the phone line is with them.
