My router stats are:
DSL Status: Connected
DSL Modulation Mode: ADSL2+
DSL Path Mode: Interleaved
Downstream Rate: 14330 kbps
Upstream Rate: 448 kbps
Downstream Margin: 11 db
Upstream Margin: 27 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 20 db
Upstream Line Attenuation: 4.5 db
Downstream Transmit Power: 11 db
Upstream Transmit Power: 22 db
I also connected to the test socket yesterday & the downstream rate was exactly the same (so could I be on a banded profile?) but the downstream margin increased to 15db.

I'm afraid your BT profile is still set to 10000 so upping this on our side would make no difference I'm afraid. Getting the BT one to update should be possible - if you power the router off and on once a day between 10am and 3pm you should find that the resyncs train the exchange equipment and hurry the change along. Then if it doesn't update on our side we can up it for you.

Your connection has been up for over 24 hours now without a drop so things are looking good. As regards the banded profile, yes one has been applied but it's between 7Mb and 14Mb so won't be getting in the way here. We can remove it though if you get the connection to a state where you're syncing at 14Mb pretty much constantly.

Another thought - will the banding stop the profile increasing?

I've been turning the router off once a day as suggested by Matt to try & boost my profile, but the opposite has happened! I'm still syncing at a constant 14330 kbps but when I turned the power on again today the profile had dropped to 5500 as the BT test shows. It was still at 10000 earlier this morning.
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download Speed
9087 Kbps
0 Kbps 7150 Kbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speed achieved during the test was - 9087 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1000-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :14328 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 5500 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 11.2:23.32:65.48 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
Please can you explain what is happening - I wanted the profile to go up not down!!!

Since I made the changes I haven't been aware of any loss of sync apart from when I've rebooted the router once a day (on the 9th, 14th, 15th & today), or disconnected it to plug it into the test socket (on the 13th). If the connection has dropped more often than that then I must still have a problem somewhere. Can you let me know if there have been more resyncs than that.

Here's a visual representation of your disconnections as we see them:

It looks like there are one or two extra connections but they seem to be happening at the same time as you disconnecting the service.

I think there may have been a problem with the BT speedtester earlier - I've just done another test and the profile is back to 10000 again, and the speed hasn't been that high for a while either!
Download speed achieved during the test was - 10137 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 2000-21000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :14328 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 10000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 16.21:25.67:58.12 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
I'll leave it connected 24/7 for now & see what happens. Do you think it's safe to remove the banding now or should we wait for the profile to increase first?
