Re: Seriously?

Is pretty unusual for contention to affect the upload though.
@ sully666 - is anyone on your network running any programs or services that might be downloading/uploading?

Re: Seriously?

There was no downloading or uploading happening at that time. My son was on his pc doing some college work, so his X-Box was off.
I am on the Worksop exchange.

Re: Seriously?

Sully666,
You've had a long history of reporting slow performance -see http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,123239.msg1070263.html#msg1070263 - what was the conclusion of that event?  I recall that somewhere in that thread it was stated that you were being switched to 21CN, however the stats reported there (17.5Mbps) indicate you were already on 21CN.
Have you done a quiet line test?  Have you been through the fault elimination process?  Have you had a BTOR visit?

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Seriously?

Can you post your usage from https://portal.plus.net/view_my_broadband_usage/index.php (assuming it's working)?

Have any of your PCs got P2P software installed?

Re: Seriously?

I have utorrent installed but that wasn't running last night.  Did a quiet line yesterday and there was no noise at all. As far as I am aware the engineer found no issues on his visit from my last problems. On that visit he also tested the internal cable and gave that a clean bill of health.
Will just have to keep an eye on things, but wouldn't be surprised if there is congestion at our exchange as there have been a lot of new cabinets being installed in the area. I cannot even have fibre at the moment as my line goes direct  to the exchange.

Re: Seriously?

You graph does not show the normal signs of congestion. To me, it looks like your connection was being fully used for brief periods.
Can you post the usage from yesterday?

Re: Seriously?

I'm probably teaching my grandmother to suck eggs, but are you aware that even if you are not downloading files via uTorrent, if it is running in the background due to it being started automatically when Windows starts it could be putting a lot of traffic on your line due to it sharing the files you've downloaded with other users.
I'd suggest installing NetWorX to monitor the traffic from each PC.

Look especially for the amount of upload.

Re: Seriously?

According to the data provided by our suppliers on Friday, there doesn't appear to be a congestion issue at your exchange.

Re: Seriously?

I don't have utorrent start automatically and it wasn't running when the speed dropped. Cannot post yesterdays usage as as the new period started today. Will have a look at Networx though. Thanks  Smiley  Wonder if the issue HAS been caused by the installation of the new pole along from the one we are connected to. Seems too coincidental that the issue started after that was installed on Saturday.

Re: Seriously?

Can you go Start > Search for 'cmd.exe' > Right Click on it and then Run as Administrator > From the command prompt, type tasklist > c:\processes_list.txt
Can you then post the contents of the txt file (which will be in your C:\) here?
Can you also post a traceroute to bbc.co.uk ?

Re: Seriously?

It looks to me possibly like a PC issue - you've got a lot of instances of Chrome running there.
Edit: But it doesn't explain the TBB BQM.

Re: Seriously?

Chrome has that many exe running depending on the number of tabs and plugins running.
