Samsung BDF7500 Connection Problems

I have a Samsung BDF7500 Smart Bluray player.  It can connect to my home wireless network (Plusnet, via Thomson Gateway TG585 v8), but cannot connect to the internet.
Other devices are able to connect to the internet.
The Samsung device is set up to automatically assign IP and DNS settings.
Plusnet tech support say they are unable to provide any support.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Jon

Re: Samsung BDF7500 Connection Problems

Apparently Samsung web servers are down due to a fire and Samsung devices ping their own servers to check connectivity, which seems a bit bizarre.  Affecting all Samsung devices.  https://www.facebook.com/samsungsupport?filter=2

Re: Samsung BDF7500 Connection Problems

Hi Jon,
Welcome to the forums.
The problem with Samsung's servers might not actually be the issue.  Can you confirm the IP configuration details on the device?  You should be able to see these through the admin menu.
Whilst the device might well be connected to wifi, it might for some reason not correctly acquired an IP address / gateway /  DNS settings.

Re: Samsung BDF7500 Connection Problems

Hi
It was the server issue.  All working again now  and the Samsung website is back online.
It seems bizarre that they test connectivity by pinging their own site. It meant all their smart devices globally were offline.
Thanks for suggestions though.
Jon
