Re: SNR Reset needed?? (Annoyed now!!!)

@Anotherone.
Yep, already done.  When I visted a couple of weeks ago, Both the Master and extension had wires to terminals 2,3,4,5.  Removed and trimmed the wires going to 3 and 4 on both Master and extension.
See piccie below of current wiring status.  Would the cut off extension be causing an issue.  I didnt remove it, as I wasnt sure if I should be playing inside the green box, but I will if it wouldnt cause an issue.  Failing that, I cant see how I can get the wiring any better.  The flat phone extension used for their telephone, is filtered at the master,  could this be an issue?Huh
I would welcome any advice as to what if anything can be improved further....

Re: SNR Reset needed?? (Annoyed now!!!)

If you are using Windows 7, you may find http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/910.how-to-enable-telnet-client-in-window... useful.
As you may recall from your posting about this last August, the flat phone extension shouldn't be a problem if it's filtered at the master.
The cut off extension might be an issue. There will be no record of it on OR records, so I'd get rid of it all together.
Log into the modem/router and drop the PPP session and then after about a minute power down the modem/router. Then you can open up the green box and remove it altogether. Whilst you are there just make sure that only the Blue/white and White/blue wires are connected to the incoming line and any orange wires are not connected to anything or each other. Remove from any terminal, cut off any bare ends, and coil them up if need be - did I say open the box ...... who's to know  Wink

Ahhhhh will try that, thanks..  I will have a look inside the green box, and try to tidy up the wiring a little more. Think they may need a 'noisy line' fault to get them a modern nte5 master Cheesy Cheesy
Forgot about last aug, its taken this long to organise things Crazy  will let you know if things improve. They have gone away again, so cant get back till next weekend.

Re: SNR Reset needed?? (Annoyed now!!!)

Just an update, been up today as their new router arrived. Did a little more tidying of the wiring. Connected everything up, and he now has a sync of just under 6meg, on a 3db snrm. Still on adsl2 for some reason, but we are quite happy with this given the attenuation. Still confused snrm is at 3db, when it was meant to be fixed at 6db, but hey, lets see how it goes.

Re: SNR Reset needed?? (Annoyed now!!!)

Sync was around 5850.
No not annoyed now, even though his snrm is at 3db, as is mine still. I removed all extraneous wiring, and all orange wires still connected. Lets hope it all remains stable, and his profile dosnt take too long to catch up...

The profiles are now matching, not to sure why the dB has changed to 3dB? It should be fixed at 6db, although saying that, the connection does appear to be very stable at the minute.

Re: SNR Reset needed?? -- update

chris... hes noticed his speed reducing again, and I noted that his profile was at 2mb, down from 4. could you post up his bt profile, his snr is still at 3db I suspect. also would it be possible to post up his radius logs, and maybe a copper line test. if hes got a dropping connection, then I will raise a fault for him. if his snr is at a 3db profile can we try again for a 6db profile please. Thanks for that matt. His connection is not dropping significantly is it... We will see how things go, the line seems to have been stable...
