Re: SNR/Connection speed wobble.

A request, if I may.

Any chance of a RADIUS log for the past month, please? Since my return on Wednesday, I seem to have had a number of xDSL drops - connection speed/SNR not adversely affected - yet, but I am slightly concerned.

Hi @jab1

Here you are;

Certainly has been some drops since Wednesday - but no more than "normal" (for want of a better word).

Thanks,

MoR

Re: SNR/Connection speed wobble.

Thanks, @MasterOfReality . A bit strange they mostly occur when I'm not on the laptop overnight?

Re: SNR/Connection speed wobble.

@jab1 - agreed.

This is when our suppliers perform routine maintenance - but it looks much too much for that.

It almost looks REIN like...anything you know of turning on/off during the night?

Thanks,

MoR

Re: SNR/Connection speed wobble.

@MasterOfReality Certainly nothing on my premises - the only thing at home which turns on/off is the compressor on the fridge/freezer, but that is 24/7/365 Huh

Re: SNR/Connection speed wobble.

Hey @jab1,

Thanks checking, can you see anything in your immediate vicinity that may be causing these issues - e.g. streetlights, roadworks etc.

Thanks.

Re: SNR/Connection speed wobble.

Nothing obvious, @Mads Definitely no roadworks, and the street lights are on all night - sadly with my (non)-sleeping pattern, I would notice if they went out/dimmed during the period covered by the xDSL drops shown in the RADIUS logs.

Re: SNR/Connection speed wobble.

Hey @jab1,

So at this point it's really up to you, we can look to get an engineer out to investigate this issue and confirm it it's REIN etc and we go down that route or you can keep an eye on it for a bit & see how you go. If it's okay and it's not affecting you/your services it might worth just giving us a shout when the issues start to affect your services again and we can go from there?.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed,

Thanks.

Re: SNR/Connection speed wobble.

@Mads I can't really see a REIN trained engineer working during the period when the disconnections are happening Wink , and unless they did, it would be a pointless exercise.

As my initial request this morning for the logs was merely out of curiosity more than anything, I think I will just monitor for now, but be assured that if my speed deteriorates, I will post back here with a request for further detailed investigation.

Thanks for your interest.

Hi John,

Are you still plotting?

If yes, what do they look like please?

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: SNR/Connection speed wobble.

@Townman Not left the laptop running overnight since I got back Wednesday, been having a few unconnected problems with the home electrics which my tame leccy solved yesterday.

Will leave RSL running from tonight for two or three days, but I had one more xDSL drop around 2225 last night.- not as bad as shown on that recent Radius log, but still not what I would like.

@Townman RSL plots from start up yesterday to 0546 this morning. Note that I was not using the machine when the drops occurred last nightNoiseMargin-2019Aug10-1145.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug10-1445.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug10-1745.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug10-2045.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug10-2346.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug11-0246.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug11-0546.jpg

Next set of logs.NoiseMargin-2019Aug11-0846.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug11-1146.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug11-1446.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug11-1746.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug11-2046.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug11-2046.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug12-0246.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug12-0246.jpgNoiseMargin-2019Aug12-0546.jpg

The two 'flatlines' are RSL 'losing the plot'. Unfortunately, during the long one from around 2044 last night to 0521 this morning, I had at least one xDSL/resync. Will go and see what, if any, info I can find in the router logs.

Re: SNR/Connection speed wobble.

From the router logs I can see, it appears I had xDSL drops at 21.23, 21.25 and 0434.
