I have tried lots of variations of MTU and Rwin using DRTCP021.exe and dslreports on two WinXP laptops using the same WiFi and router but cant get over 9500, Any clues

have tried mtu from 1430 to 1500 and Rwin lots of different
catnt get tweak test to work at the moment, but it did say the current settings were good

Have you checked the settings on the network adapters ? they're not set to 10Mbps by any chance are they ?
Had a similar problem in the office when we were upgraded to ADSL2+, couldn't understand why our throughput didn't improve, then we discovered that the NIC in the firewall box ( Smoothwall ) was only good for 10Mbps , doh!

Also your Linux and Win 7 boxes are working fine on wireless.
I presume you've tried with XP Firewalls disabled etc ?

it also had a web shield and network shield
thats a bit better
and the speed test needle doesnt wobble so much
