Router turned off and now low speed and high ping, HELP

my router was turned off in error today and when re-booted and re-connected my download speed has dropped from 10meg to 1.5meg and the ping has riseon from about 30ms to over 150ms. Can anyone help when the download and ping will return to the previous settings

Everything looks fine as regards your profile on the BT side of things. I'd recommend disconnecting the service via the router's config page, then turning it off for a couple of minutes then back on. That should reconnect you at a speed much closer to what you're used to.

I have the re-set the router as instructed and the ping is now as high as 170ms and the download speed is running no higher than 3megs. What do you suggest next to return to a very stable and fast connection I am use to.

That's very odd. I can't see anything on the BT side still that might look like a profile change (the last update was from the 6th) and aside from the drop that started this off there's nothing that looks like disconnections either. Could you try resyncing but with just the router in the test socket (behind the master socket front plate) and everything else unplugged from the line so we can eliminate the wiring and equipment/filters from your premises?

insure you check the routers sync speed, not by using speed tests as speed tests will not improve in till your ip profiles increase.

can you grab the stats before and after you try at the test socket and post here.

Re-synced the router and the speed and ping initally settle at the correct levels but have dropped dramatically yet again to a ping of 180ms and speeds at 2meg. Router plugged into test sockets all the time so no worries there. Here is the router information

what exchange are you connected to, maybe one of the staff can find out if the vlan capicty on 21cn at the op's exchange is running hot. (not sure if this 21cn info is now added to the link :-\) same info as here that you get for 20cn http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/

YET again very high pings in the region of 250ms and download speeds at 2meg. This service is appalling and has only remained stable for a pityfull 4 days. I have had this issue under tickets and just get told it will stabalise and dont re-set your connection. Router has been up for 7 days now and still no better. What do you do next any help is appreciated.

I have completed the tests as requested. The biggest problem is the ping which is running at over 250ms during the day with intermittent download speeds but strangely the connection is settling down at around 5pm and this has been the pattern for the last three days.
