Re: Router Stats ?Issue...

Ok, faults have completed more testing with no fault on the line,  but it appears the maximum stable rate is set to 1152, which is why sync so low. Any ideas on how this may have happened? isnt 1152 the sync on an old fixed rate 1mb service. I am confused as shouldnt the snr reset have reset the max stable rate anyhow. The faults guy thinks an engineer may be needed, but cant this be fixed by software?

Re: Router Stats ?Issue...

These statements are confusing as the synch rates on all of the stats you have posted exceed that synch rate.
This need DCT action...

Re: Router Stats ?Issue...

The above is from the ticket. The faults guy needs a full bt speed test.  How can I be syncing above the msr, and then the dlm be forcing the sync rate back down.  Also shouldn't an snr reset put all these values to defaults and recalculate? I would really welcome and appreciate some dct input.

Re: Router Stats ?Issue...

Just do a search - from a mad-as-a-fish support page...
Quote
Maximum Stable Rate (MSR)
During the first 10 days your connection will be given a value known as the Maximum Stable Rate (MSR). The MSR is the lowest sync speed (line rate) achieved in the first 10 days, not as the name somewhat confusingly suggests, the maximum sync at which the line was stable.
The MSR value is solely used to determine when a drop in sync speed would be considered a fault. It is important to understand it is not a guarantee of speeds that you should expect for your "up to 6Mb" connection and that Max is rate-adaptive, meaning your speeds will vary throughout the lifetime of your connection.
BT will accept a fault report if the line rate drops by 30% or more from your established MSR, this is said to be below the Fault Threshold Rate. e.g. if the MSR during the first 10 days is determined as 5000kbps, a fault can be reported when your sync speed drops to 3500kbps or less.

Re: Router Stats ?Issue...

The maximum stable rate does not restrict the sync speed. Any maximum stable rate figure does not prevent the line from achieving higher speeds if the line conditions improve, or even if they don't for that matter.
An alternative theory for the low speed with low SNRM would be a large but constant level of noise affecting the line. Not everything is the DLM's fault. It looks like the line is syncing as best as it can under the circumstances, which is low due to some problem, but not the DLM.
