It should be activated by midnight tomorrow. I am just waiting for the text so I can plug the router in.
Its not too much of a problem, if the signal is going to be stronger with the router in the hallway next to the socket, then that is what I will have to do.
I just wanted it in the living room originally for convenience.

When you do get connected, don't do too much messing about as you might find DLM kicks in and your connection speed suffers anyway. Best to use the master socket for the first 10 days or so then you'll get a baseline of the speeds you can expect.
Can we assume you're going for an ADSL connection rather than a FTTC (Fibre) connection ?

What electrical equipment or mains wiring the cable passes on it's way is likely to have a bigger impact. You could live next door to the exchange but if the cable picks up significant interference there will be problems.
