Real problem with my download speed.

Joined Plusnet about four months ago and the speed was great, between 4-7mb I was getting. The last couple of months though the speeds have been getting slower and slower, now the speeds are under the 1mb mark.
What has caused this? Nothing has changed in my setup, except I requested that Interleaving was turned of to lower my ping, is this the casue of the problem? Its getting really frustrating,
Thanks.

Re: Real problem with my download speed.

Anyone?
I have restarted my router a few times and the speed remains the same, about 600kbs. I really dont know whats causing this problem, I have checked my filter, plugged into the master socket and nothing changes.
If further information is required I can provide it.

Re: Real problem with my download speed.

Please don't bump posts - we aren't on here all the time
However the first thing you need to post are the stats from your router - noise margin, attenuation and speeds.
If you have a Plusnet supplied router this will give them http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/dsl/dt/?ce=1&be=0&l0=1&l1=0

Re: Real problem with my download speed.

Nothing wrong there you must live on top of the exchange - two other things to knock on the head
Run the BT speedtest and report the results
What does this say for current line speed https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed

Re: Real problem with my download speed.

You running that test Wired or wireless? Have you tried with a different router? How many times are you rebooting your router in a day?

Re: Real problem with my download speed.

If its not a wireless problem, Exchange contention perhaps ?
Thetford is currently showing green but its been red for a while http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/?exchange=Thetford&exact=997&plugin=vp

Re: Real problem with my download speed.

That test was wired. I rarely restart my router, but I have a few times today to see if it would increase my speeds, I still cant get above the 500kbs mark.
Also whilst Thetford was in the red my connection was fine, its just today that its got unbelievably slow. Its gradually been getting slower the last few weeks.

Re: Real problem with my download speed.

You are, or should be, below the fault level.
It would be worth raising a speed fault or wait until a rep comes in on Monday (you will need three BT speedtests completing for the fault report)

Re: Real problem with my download speed.

Hi Jake5,
I've just had a check for your line profile on BTs system and it looks like there's no data there - that's not a problem, it means that you've been syncing at 8128 solidly since the line was activated with us!
I'd definitely recommend raising the ticket though, so we know as much as possible about the issue before we start the investigation off. Give us a nudge when it's raised and we'll take a look for you.

Re: Real problem with my download speed.

Ok so this morning before work, around 7.30 am I ran a couple of speed tests and averaged between 5-6Mbs!
I have just done another couple of tests though and im stuck at 1mbs, heres a BT test:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1078 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps
Does my internet speed suffer that greatly in different time periods?

Re: Real problem with my download speed.

I just raised a ticket.
This is the latest BT speed test result:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 728kbs
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps
This is really beginning to annoy me now, this isnt what I signed up for at all. My speeds appear to be being throttled, on 728kbs you cant do anything but browse the web.
If this is how my service will stay then I will terminate as this is unacceptable.

Re: Real problem with my download speed.

This is almost certainly exchange congestion and there is no way of getting round that unless you go to a LLU operator
