Quote For the members on here to help the basic information we need is the stats from your router - attenuation, noise margin and speeds - this tells you how to get them http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php
Firstly apologies to the others for jumping on the bandwagon somewhat, but I am in the same position as you: I seem to have a slow connection at times, and would like to do a bit of investigative work and in particular check my router stats, and also gain an understanding about what everything means. I have a basic grip already and know I can do some tweaking my end that might help.
It seemed rather appropriate to join this thread....
Anyway, onto my query:
Jim, I followed your link to the router stats site, but I can't see my router on there. I have the Thomson TG585v7. Do you have any suggestions? I have stumbled across a few third party programs on the net and wondering whether these were any use?
Regards
Andy

Andy, you should be able to find your router on the link to the Kitz site, look for 'Speedtouch routers - others', there are no entries for 'Thomson'.
There is also a lot of useful information on the site about ADSL, explaining all the terms for router stats. I certainly learned a lot from reading this.

ASBO DOG, maranello, thanks for your advice, I never thought of it being a Speedtouch modem.
Will have a look when I get home and see what results I get.
Oldjim, thanks for splitting the post and sorting out the mess I made of the quotes, and apologies if anyone was offended with my original username.
