I'm not sure I understand the point of your post - that all looks good.

Except possibly to prove that BT's speed tester isn't fully up to the job of testing the throughput of the line itself.
My experience of looking at these forums compared to, say, a year ago is that there are many more complaints about what the speed-tester shows, posted by people who believe this figure somehow proves whether their line is or isn't living up to the "up to N" marketing claims, and therefore whether they're getting the service they're paying for.
While speed-testers can give a good clue about the presence of a problem, they're not a help in narrowing the problem down at all.
In fact they're becoming a hinderance, a diversion of attention, and a source of ranting (including, unfortunately, this post  Embarrassed ).

Re: Faulty router replaced - what now?

exactly, the BT test show down load of 6714 Kbps, but indepenantly the My Boadband is 11.58Mbps,and my Samknows moitor, which is ethernet as against WiFi is show just uner 14
Dont mind you splitting it +off Jim, but I dont think it is irrelevant and as said by WWWombat, a lot of people take the BT test at gospel

Re: Faulty router replaced - what now?

Didn't notice the 6714 because I never look at anything except the current sync speeds and the IP Profile on a BT speed test! Rather proves the point.

Interesting then that Jameseh's article on fault diagnosis starts by describing the BT Speedtester as one of the more useful tools.

It's is incredibly useful - for finding out the IP Profile. But not for much else!

Re: Faulty router replaced - what now?

Absolutely - and there must surely be a simpler, quicker, more reliable way for BT to provide a line's IP Profile.
