Re: Profile stuck? any suggestions?

Hi Jo,
thanks for this. We just re-synced at an higher rate about 1 hour ago and so decided to run another test but still same results as yesterday.
it just looks like as although the profile has been raised and SNR reset, the delivered bandwidth is still throttled. The results of the tests are way too close together.

Re: Profile stuck? any suggestions?

Hi bengolia,
I've been on to BT and still can;t find what might be causing that. I've explained all that's happened to one of the faults guys and he's picking it up for me, so hopefully we'll get a bit further on.

Re: Profile stuck? any suggestions?

hi,
well not much of a surprise but i just checked the router again and it had re-synced 1 hour and 45 minutes ago at 284kbit, so looks like we are back to basic Sad
i have to say it's not really much patience but more like we kind of lost hope

Re: Profile stuck? any suggestions?

and that didn't last long...
profile is back at 0.25 Mbit! Not that we got much more out of our higher sync rates but at least it gave a little bit of hope that something was going to happen.
I'm starting to think that there is a serious problem with the exchange, over the top saturation?
as the upstream is stable at nearly twice the downstream, with previous experiences this is what i think the problem is!
If this reduction is going to be blamed again on the DLM than i guess whoever came up with the idea of using such a service should reconsider his career in IT as it's clearly not working or perhaps PN customer support should be given a better training on what the DLM stands for and how it performs.
Never the less it took 2 weeks to actually get someone to finally understand that the problem was that our profile was stuck and not that we needed a visit from a bt engineer but i guess as per above that is some kind of "computer says no" answer.
i would suggest to anyone consifdering moving to a higher speed package to not do it, we had a reliable 8Mbit connection which was upgraded to 0.25 Mbit, yes you did read right!

Re: Profile stuck? any suggestions?

HI bengolia,
My suspicion is that it's not DLM but a system issue where the part we see shows as everything hunky dory and the part we don't see keeps banding your line, which then confuses everyone. I'm on with our suppliers at the moment trying to get to the bottom of this for you.

Re: Profile stuck? any suggestions?

hi Jo,
thanks for keeping an eye on this. I guess we are in re-sync now as i can't get to the routerstats infos now (remote view), will check again.
what seems odd is that we jumped from 14xxxKbps to 254Kbps straight wityhout any intermidiate steps and that the line throughout speed has never changed even when synced at 14KB

Re: Profile stuck? any suggestions?

Hi Jo,
just managed to get back and check the situation. router seems to be able to cope with the sync rate but yet no signs of increased bandwidth delivered. latest speed test results:

System Up Time 27:34:58

Port       Status       TxPkts       RxPkts       Collisions       Tx B/s       Rx B/s       Up Time
      WAN       PPPoE       42836       31102       0       377       798       09:57:38
      LAN       10M/100M       1076328       646911       0       4391       1130       27:34:53
      WLAN       11M/54M       250043       226549       0       1261       423       27:34:43

      ADSL Link     Downstream     Upstream
Connection Speed       15140 kbps       445 kbps
Line Attenuation       23 db       7.5 db
Noise Margin       6 db       25 db
Today 22:13 274 kbps (34.3kB/s) 361 kbps (45.1kB/s)
Yesterday 08:14 276 kbps (34.5kB/s) 365 kbps (45.6kB/s)
Tuesday 17:27 264 kbps (33kB/s) 367 kbps (45.9kB/s)
i also tried with my dedicated server and won't get past 30KB/s down. I know for a fact that the server has at least 95Mbit of upstream b/w available as i'm live monitoring it

Re: Profile stuck? any suggestions?

well we managed to get a stable connection until yesterday and finally on saturday evening it seemed that speeds had been uncapped, unfortunally since 17:30 yesterday the connection started dropping with the odd 2 to 5 mins uptime and it goes down again.  I noticed that the RxNoise id dropping to 3 and lower until we get to 0 and loose connectivity while sync speed has increased to 15227 . At sync speed of 15140 the noise stayed stable at 6.0
