Problems with gateway checker

http://usertools.plus.net/@gateway is currently telling me
Quote
Sorry, the tool currently could not identify your gateway; this does not mean that anything is wrong with your connection.

It should say something like
Quote
You are currently connected to the gateway known as ptn-ag03.

I've reported this on the usergroup forums (the checker runs on their server) and they've commented that usually if there is a problem there are reports on these forums.
Could everyone check if it is working for them please, and if it doesn't give the correct result post the output from a tracert to ntp.plus.net. E.g.
C:\Users\John>tracert ntp.plus.net
Tracing route to ntp.plus.net [212.159.6.9]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

Re: Problems with gateway checker

Hi jelv,
Looks like there is a problem with some of the rDNS entries when tracing back to a customer. Because the gateway checker is reliant on a *reverse* trace then tracing out from your machine doesn't tell us much.
You're much better off running a reverse traceroute using something like this.
e.g.
If I browse to the gateway checker I am also getting:
[quote author="Gateway checker"]Sorry, the tool currently could not identify your gateway; this does not mean that anything is wrong with your connection
If I trace to my machine from work I get:
1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms fa0-7.pih-cr1.plus.net [84.93.216.84]
2 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms vl421.pih-gw3.plus.net [212.159.1.171]
3 54 ms 14 ms 14 ms gi1-1.ptn-gw01.plus.net [212.159.1.178]
4 15 ms 14 ms 14 ms po6.thn-gw1.plus.net [212.159.1.136]
5 11 ms 11 ms 11 ms vl303.thn-gw1.plus.net [84.92.3.177]  <--- this *won't* work!
6 my.router

If I trace to my parent's machine I get:
1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms gi4-46.ptp-cr01.plus.net [84.93.216.81]
2 7 ms 7 ms 7 ms gi1-22.pcl-gw01.plus.net [84.93.224.49]
3 7 ms 7 ms 7 ms te2-2.pte-gw1.plus.net [212.159.0.186]
4 12 ms 12 ms 12 ms vl22.thn-gw1.plus.net [212.159.4.3]
5 11 ms 8 ms 8 ms gi11-0-0-211.thn-ag2.plus.net [84.92.6.193] <--- this *will* work!
6 parents.router

Basically, the penultimate hop *back to you* needs to be named so that it contains a reference to the gateway you're connected to. If it doesn't, then the tool won't work. thn-ag2 is the name of one of our edge routers, whereas thn-gw1 isn't.
We'll be correcting the spurious DNS entries in due course. I've opened an internal problem to track the work (ref: 64354).

You can check which gateway you're connected to by visiting http://usertools.plus.net/@gateway.

I think there's still value in including the link as it will still have worked for the majority and the error that's returned is concise enough where it doesn't.
Anyway, we've now checked and corrected the rDNS for all ERX virtual router links so the problem should be fixed.
Shout up if it does resurface or you've reason to believe it's still happening.
