Possible speed problem?

Ive just joined Plusnet with the Pro package but im a bit concerned about the speeds the speed tests are showing on this site. Its only going to around 1950kbps where my old broadband would get to around 6000kbps during the day. According to the router im connected at 8.2mbps as i was with Sky. Could it just be the training period or is it stuck to 2000kbps?  I did a speed test on the bt tester and it showed a throughput of 2000kbps where with sky this showed 7000kbps normally. Web pages come up quickly, especially in the evenings but when downloading files, firefox manager is showing a max of 245kbps.

Re: Possible speed problem?

This https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed will probably say current line speed 2000 as you probably moved from Sky LLU
On the BT tester did it say that the ipProfile was 2000 if so it is still in the 10 day training period and should sort itself out

Re: Possible speed problem?

It was on Sky Connect not their LLU.It did say the ip profile was 2000. Thought it would be the training period, its just that its worked so much quicker than what sky did, even with sky showing better stats.
I cant believe how quickly Plusnet managed to get my line sorted because of all the problems i had with Sky not giving me a MAC. Sky turned me off on the Friday and Plusnet had the router out to me and all working by Wednesday. I was looking at not having any internet over Christmas but someone at Plusnet must have worked overtime to get me up and running.

Re: Possible speed problem?

That may explain it - it Sky put a cancellation on the line and Plusnet restarted it that would start the 10 day training period and set the ipProfile back to 2000

Re: Possible speed problem?

Its been 7 days now since my line started with Plusnet. How long should it take for the profile  to go back to 7000+?

Re: Possible speed problem?

The longest is 10 days as after that BTw will accept a stuck profile but it should have already changed (jf it isn't stuck) - have you tried the BT speedtest recently to see if it has changed

Re: Possible speed problem?

no its not you have a stuck profile at 2000, you max synch is 8128, your profile should be 7150, either phone PN at 0114 296 5183 or wait for a coms person to see this tomorrow

Re: Possible speed problem?

Thanks for the info. I will check back on here tomorrow to see if someone has seen that the profile is stuck. If no one replys i will give PN a ring about it.When downloading files now i get a max of 245KBps, should this raise to around 600KBps when the profiles is raised?

Re: Possible speed problem?

I opened a ticket today about the profile being stuck and basically just got an automated response of do some speed tests and make sure its not my computer thats got a trojan or virus.Im on the Pro upto 20Mb package, not much chance of that speed with a a profile of 2000Kbps.
