Poor DL speed

I have had issues with DL speed since joining PN in May this year. The inital connection synced at 12 and delivered a DL speed of 9.5-10MB this speed has reduced over the last few months to 6.5MB. I have posted oin the forums before and raised several tickets but all just fizzle out with no real answers as to why I could recieve in excess of 9.5MB DL speed for over 3 moths then now see no better DL speed than 6.5MB. I have run a test with BT and Virign and both indicate my DL speed could/should be 10-11MB, which it has been previously. Can anyone please tell me how to achieve the speeds previously seen. The router has been connected for over 43 days with dropping so surely the DL speed should be increasing by now, or do I just change suppliers that claim not to cap my DL speed. Any help appreciated. Frustated user.

Re: Poor DL speed

Can you post the following please:
1. Results from a BT Speed test
2. What https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=stable_rate says for your current line speed
3. The stats reported by your router (sync speed, attenuation and noise margin)

Re: Poor DL speed

That looks a pretty stable line! The speeds all look appropriate to your current sync speed.
Is your telephone line crystal clear or have you noticed any decline in that?
I'd like to see the router stats after you have done ONE router reboot between 10am and 2pm, I think there's a good chance that you will then see (and hold) a faster sync speed.

The line is crystal clear and I will re-boot the router tomorrow morning and see.

Re: Poor DL speed

Hi MrN,
The reason you can't sync higher than that is that the line is banded (4M-9M) I am now asking for this to be removed to see what happens. I will come back to you here when I find out more information.

Re: Poor DL speed

Well the router has disconnected itself last night about 7pm and is now syncing at 11.2 but the DL speed is still 6.5 but the UL speed is now running at 0.94.

Re: Poor DL speed

Give it a couple of days and it should pick up. The equipment in the exchange doesn't respond quickly to an increase in sync speed.

Re: Poor DL speed

It will take time for the BT IP Profile to rise and PN's to follow. What is critical now is that you keep it uber stable with NO disconnects.

Re: Poor DL speed

Hi MrN
the banding has now been lifted, just have to wait for the DLM to lift the profile at BT side.
