Plusnet Speed Rate...

Hi,
ADSL has just been activated in my new house - 2 days earlier than scheduled so thanks for that. I've just ran a speed test and can see that PN's stable rate is still reporting that of my old property (2500kbps), the new property has a great connection
Statistics Downstream Upstream
Line Rate 8128 Kbps 448 Kbps
Noise Margin 12.8 dB 23.0 dB
Line Attenuation 10.0 dB 6.0 dB
Output Power 13.8 dBm 11.9 dBm
Can you change the PN rate to reflect 8mb please (bypassing the 3 day wait) - the router has been switched on for the last week and sits at a stable 8128 with no line drops....
Thanks in advance

Re: Plusnet Speed Rate...

the PN rate should be reflective of the BT one, what does the BT speedtester (http://speedtester.bt.com/) say?

Re: Plusnet Speed Rate...

I'll go check your account in our system, however updating our profile won't give you any better speeds until the IP profile has increased (you can check this from a BT Speedtest).

Re: Plusnet Speed Rate...

The order isn't due to complete until the 7th, so I can't get your correct profile from BT yet. However I've updated your profile on our side to the highest we now have (7150) so you aren't restricted incorrectly.

Re: Plusnet Speed Rate...

Thanks for the replies...
Chris, thanks for updating the PN profile. I just tested via BT, they have me on a 2mb profile - do you know if BT will transfer the profile from the old house (was on a BT 2mb there)? I'm guessing that over the next 3 days, the BT profile will reflect the new exchange sync rate?
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1705 kbps

Re: Plusnet Speed Rate...

All new "connections" generally start off at a 2000 profile.
If you maintain your sync, I reckon you'll be seeing a 7150 profile after 2-3 days.

Re: Plusnet Speed Rate...

Awesome, thanks for confirming! First place I've lived with such a solid connection - need the additional bandwidth too....

Re: Plusnet Speed Rate...

New connections are normally set with an IP profile of 2000.
This should move to match the capability of your line.  As you're sncing at 8128 I'd expect it to increase to 7150 over the next few days (it can take 3-5 days).
If, after your 10 day initial period, it's still stuck at 2000 (and assuming that you continue to sync at 8128) then you'll need to get PN to give BT a nudge to get your profile raised.
Edit: Looks like Barry answered you already.
