The NetGear router which was supplied with my fibre connection is to say the least a bag of utter crapola; does anyone have any recommendation for which router to buy as a replacement which has good range to cope with a large(ish) house?
For example if I'm sat on my downstairs throne using my phone on wireless which is one normal internal wall and 2.5 meters away from the router my signal is very poor.
Signal upstairs is an impossibility.
Before anyone asks I've not encased the router in a box of lead, nor have I stuffed it behind a radiator or anything else equally as stupid.
Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks

I haven't, but then there are very few other networks in range of my house (if any).

Suprises me that. When I had this router installed it sat on top of my Sky box underneath a TV stand in the living room downstairs. Even then I could get a decent enough signal in the bedroom on the second/top floor (the house has three floors) using a smartphone or laptop

Mine sits on the floor behind a sofa a few inches from the front wall of the house. Get a good signal in back upstairs bedroom and back garden.
