Plusnet Essentials v Plusnet Value: Why the difference in estimated speeds?

On the "Product Change" > "Choose Broadband Product" page of Plusnet's website I have a choice between
Plusnet Essentials with an estimated speed of 14Mbps or
Plusnet Value [my current package] with an estimated speed of 8Mbps.
My download speed is actually 12.74 Mbps and I am, apparently, on ADSL2+.
I wonder whether, given Plusnet's estimates, I would achieve an increase in speed if I were to change to Essentials.
What is the reason for the difference between the two estimates?
A reply from a Plusnet representative would be good.

There won't be any change at all
The estimates are notoriously flaky so I would just ignore them

Thanks Oldjim.
By "flaky" I suppose you mean unreliable. I wonder whether there might be other things on Plusnet's website that I should also disbelieve …

I suspect the Value estimate is an ADSL1 only, hence the maximum of 8Mb. IIRC Value was originally an up to 8Mb product but some people were upgraded to ADSL2+ when 21CN became available. The estimates for the legacy products have probably never been updated in the system.

Re: Plusnet Essentials v Plusnet Value: Why the difference in estimated speeds?

In your case it is probable that the figures for your existing product refer to a standard MaxDSL up to 8mbps whereas for the new product they are more accurate as you are on ADSL2+
However the speeds are only an estimate and come from the BTw database
