Re: Please reset my line

I don't think Chris has been on the forum much today, and I've been out all afternoon, so don't know who else has been on.

I've really not been on the forums much today, really sorry about that. I've noted to get on this thread tomorrow when I get in.

Re: Please reset my line

Thanks Chris, I appreciate you're busy.
Thanks AO. I will publish stats when the daylight goes.
I've got the Jj11 BT adapter. Should I just leave the rouyter direct off the master or reconfig it back as was. with the BT - Rj11 inline?
Thanks again guys. I will be around a lot more tomorrow - work @ home day!!!

Re: Please reset my line

As you have a drop in SNRM after dark as a lot of lines do, a resync then would result in some loss of speed. It is generally better to wait. until daylight hours when your SNRM should be back at 6 or a bit above.
So then, do a graceful disconnect and power off the modem/router after a minute. Stay offline for about 10 minutes (or longer) whilst you reconfigure your wiring.
Filter into master socket. Phone into filter. RJ11/BT adapter into filter. CW1308 extension lead/splitter into adapter. Modem/router into a filter into extension socket. Splitter socket remains empty - should you ever wish to plug an additional phone into that, it MUST be via a filter.
Post up your ADSL status data before and after reconfiguring the wiring so a direct comparison can be made.
As far as the SNR Reset goes, that seems to have failed, not uncommon. Obviously Chris will look at that again.

Re: Please reset my line

Will do.
The SNRm is still 5 now, so I guess it was a bit coincidental that it was lower when those stats were taken after dark. So stats as per last time.
Will re-do the router connections etc later this morning and hopefully Chris will be in touch re. the line and that odd up sync value,

Re: Please reset my line

Router back on extension wiring reconfig'd as per AO's post above (confirm the router is now double filtered - correct?).
Some loss in speed and still the odd US sync of course.
btw speed test. 12.3 down .71 up 39ms latency

Re: Please reset my line

Well it's not actually double filtered because the Router/ADSL sockets are not filtered, but it's going through two filters as connectors. The exception may be depending on the brand of filter, there might, I say might, be some common-mode filtering which of course is usually a good thing.
However as expected, there is a marginal drop in sync rate because the SNRM wasn't quite upto 6 when you reconnected. No worries, it is only marginal so at least your new normal setup doesn't appear at this moment to be adding any noise problems.
So, getting an SNR Reset resolved is the next thing, and then monitor your connection.

Thanks AO.
Should I put up another thread to get the SNR reset done?

No need, I'll sort that after my next meeting. I've got a post-it with the thread title stuck on my monitor!

That's always a bad idea in any event bnecause it losses the connection with the background of information leading upto the need/request for the reset.

Re: Please reset my line

Right, so 6db targets onn both down and upstream? If it doesn't take this time I'll do it the old fashioned way and start the 10 day training period again.

Re: Please reset my line

I don't think it's going to make any difference if I've completely honest, the profile is already at:
WBC 160K - 24M No delay (INP 0) 3dB Downstream, UC No delay (INP 0) 6dB Upstream (ADSL2+)
So the upstream target is 6db.
The other option we could try is capping and then uncapping your upstream, each order for this is 24 hours.

Re: Please reset my line

Hi Chris,
I don't understand the implications of each option. I'm hoping to get back to where I was a few weeks back where I had 1Mbps up and about 17Mbps down on a SNRM of 3db.
Thanks.
